Four Lakes task force
In collaboration with Midland and Gladwin counties, a group of volunteers came together to form FLTF. The Four Lakes Task Force is engaged with public officials, and has three main goals:
Ensure lake levels are sustainable for the community for future generation's.
Repair dams to ensure safe operations and maintain compliance with state safety requirements.
Improve certainty on restoration time and costs.

Chippewa Nature Center
Chippewa Nature Center is one of the largest private non-profit nature centers in the United States. Through the years, CNC has grown from its original 198 acre parcel and an all-volunteer staff to include over 1,500 acres, 40 staff members and hundreds of volunteers. Over 70,000 people visit CNC every year, including 1,000 Nature Day Campers and thousands of school children.

Diane Laverne Ross

Date of Incident: 08/07/1991

Case #: 91-107496

In the early morning hours of August 7th, 1991, an unknown suspect entered the residence of 120 N. 11 Mile Rd. located in Midland County's Lee Township and assaulted Mrs. Diane Ross. She later died as a result of the injuries she suffered during the assault. This crime was particularly heinous in that Mrs. Ross had mobility issues and was unable to escape her attacker.

This assault was witnessed by a young relative of Mrs. Ross, who described the suspect as being a man that was wearing a mask and had on dark clothing. The suspect fled the scene after committing the crime. The reason for the assault is unknown, although it is a possibility that Mrs. Ross knew her attacker or that he had been to the home on a prior occasion.
